Refuse Collection Special Benefit Assessment Area Local Law

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT a Plan and Map in relation to the amendment of a special assessment benefit area local law for refuse collection has been filed with the Clerk of the Village of Solvay and is available for the public to review and/or obtain copies at the Village Clerk’s office during regular business hours. The Village Board has called a public hearing on the possible adoption by the Village Board of a Local Law amending a Refuse Collection Special Benefit Assessment Area. The Public Hearing, at which all people wishing to be heard will be allowed to speak and ask questions, has been scheduled for April 13 , 2026 at 6:00 pm at the Town of Geddes Town Hall, 1000 Woods Road, Solvay NY 13209 to review and complete the apportionment and map and consider adoption of the local law amending the special assessment. In previous years, the costs of refuse collection was charged to subject tax parcel based upon the parcel’s assessed value. The proposed Refuse Collection Special Benefit Assessment local law amendment would create a special assessment against all tax parcels subject to levy for the payment of Village provided refuse collection. The annual cost of refuse collection within the Village is established through the public bid process and is currently $660,507 for the upcoming fiscal year. There are currently 2,754 tax parcels or units within the Village subject to payment of the cost of municipally provided refuse collection (hereinafter “tax parcels” of “tax parcel”). The formula which the Village is proposing to establish therefore divides the cost of refuse collection among the subject tax parcels or units resulting in a special assessment or Unit Charge of $240 per tax parcel or unit (a “unit”). The following property tax class units will be updated:

220 – 2 Family Residential – will be charged 2 units
215 – 1 Family Residential with Apartment – will be charged 2 units
230 – 3 Family Residential – will be charged 3 units
280 – Residential Multiple – will be charged 2 units
281 – Multiple Residential – will be charged 2 units

Excluded from the special assessment for refuse will be all property classes: 311-Residential Vacant Land

All other non-exempt property classes will be charged 1 unit.

Storm Sewer Special Benefit Assessment Area Local Law

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT a Plan and Map in relation amendment of the special assessment benefit area Local Law for storm sewer services has been filed with the Clerk of the Village of Solvay and is available for the public to review and/or obtain copies at the Village Clerk’s office during regular business hours. The Village Board has called a public hearing on the possible adoption by the Village Board of a Local Law creating a Storm Sewer Services Special Benefit Assessment Area. The Public Hearing, at which all people wishing to be heard will be allowed to speak and ask questions, has been scheduled for April 13 , 2026 at 6:00 pm at the Town of Geddes Town Hall, 1000 Woods Road, Solvay NY 13209 to review and complete the apportionment and map and consider adoption of the local law amending the special assessment. In previous years, the costs of storm sewer services was charged to subject tax parcel based upon the parcel’s assessed value. The proposed Storm Sewer Services Special Benefit Assessment local law amendment would create a special assessment against all tax parcels subject to levy for the payment of Village provided storm sewer services. The annual cost of storm sewer services within the Village is $113,178 for the upcoming fiscal year. There are currently 2,300 tax parcels within the Village subject to payment of the cost of municipally provided storm sewer services (hereinafter “tax parcels” of “tax parcel”). The formula which the Village is proposing to establish therefore divides the cost of storm sewer services among the subject tax parcels resulting in a special assessment or Unit Charge of $49 per tax parcel.

Excluded from the special assessment for Storm Sewer will be all property classes: 311- Residential Vacant Land

All other non-exempt property classes will be charged 1 unit.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT a Plan and Map in relation to the amendment of a special assessment benefit area for sanitary sewer services has been filed with the Clerk of the Village of Solvay and is available for the public to review and/or obtain copies at the Village Clerk’s office during regular business hours. The Village Board has called a public hearing on the possible adoption by the Village Board of a Local Law amending a Sanitary Sewer Services Special Benefit Assessment Area. The Public Hearing, at which all people wishing to be heard will be allowed to speak and ask questions, has been scheduled for April 13 , 2026 at 6:00 pm at the Town of Geddes Town Hall, 1000 Woods Road, Solvay NY 13209 to review and complete the apportionment and map and consider adoption of the local law amending the special assessment. In previous years, the costs of sanitary sewer services was charged to subject tax parcel based upon the parcel’s assessed value. The proposed Sanitary Sewer Services Special Benefit Assessment local law amendment would create a special assessment against all tax parcels subject to levy for the payment of Village provided sanitary sewer services. The annual cost of sanitary sewer services within the Village is $109,150 for the upcoming fiscal year. There are currently 2,300 tax parcels within the Village subject to payment of the cost of municipally provided storm sewer services (hereinafter “tax parcels” of “tax parcel”). The formula which the Village is proposing to establish therefore divides the cost of storm sewer services among the subject tax parcels resulting in a special assessment or Unit Charge of $47 per tax parcel.

Excluded from the special assessment for Storm Sewer will be all property classes: 311- Residential Vacant Land

All other non-exempt property classes will be charged 1 unit.
